Tikinagan Workshop

Duration: 3-4 days
Group Size: Limited to 15 people
Cost: All inclusive. Contact us for rates.

Anishinaabe women have traditionally placed their babies in a Tikinagan as a newborn and carried them that way until they were toddlers. Caring for a baby in a Traditional Tikinagan meant that the baby would grow up a hard worker with impeccable strength, wisdom and patience. Traditional craftspeople handcrafted the Tikinagan from cedar or ash. Participants learn from women elder knowledge keepers who used the Tikinagan with their children. Participants will complete the workshop with a family heirloom traditional Tikinagan and a better understanding of this tradition.
